Statement

Inspired by an extract from the Rilke poem "Sunset", this piece is painted glass with an aluminum tube/wire/thread binding. It displays on an etched plate glass/aluminum stand. Housed in custom drop spine box with recessed area for shaped glass display stand. A limited edition version of this work was produced in 2013.

Text and sources

The images are drawn from 17th Century Alchemical engravings. The text is extracted from the Rainer Maria Rilke poem Sunset (copyright date uncertain): One moment your life is a stone in you, and the next, a star.
